While I’m super excited to be bringing this service to my clinic in Sidney BC, it occurred to me that a lot of people may not yet know exactly what that is. Here’s a brief introduction:
What is Microblading?
Microblading is a technique of using a precision handheld manual tool to implant pigment under the skin in delicately drawn, natural looking hair stroke patterns. While it falls under the same classification as a tattoo, no machines are used and the results are far from the blue-grey or greenish-looking line brows we all remember grandma having!
Also known as eyebrow embroidery, 3D eyebrows, microstroking, micropigmentation, and eyebrow feathering, microblading is typically a two-appointment process with each appointment no sooner than 4-6 weeks apart. At least two appointments are needed with time to heal in between, to insure the best possible look, with the longest lasting results. Like traditional tattoos, colors and shapes may change with healing. A touch up appointment after the first pass allows for adjustments to be made in healed color or shapes.
During each procedure, pigment that’s color mixed specifically to match each client’s needs, is implanted into the top layer of the skin using tiny needles that are shaped into a small blade.
Microblading is done by using a very fine blade to deposit pigment into the epidermis. Because the color is closer to the surface, the strokes appear crisp and very fine. There is no spilling under the skin.
The difference with this and ordinary permanent makeup or nano brows is that microblading is not done by a machine. The pigment is manually placed into the skin. The microblading manual pen is equipped with sterile packaged blades. The blade glides with gentle pressure over the skin and causes fine cuts, as fine as a paper cut, leaving a trace that can hardly be distinguished from real hair. Depending on the drawing technique – of which we are experts – it creates an individual look perfect for your face and the style you are trying to achieve. Above all 3D, or HD, eyebrows absolutely do not appear as a tattoo.
Microblading is ideal for anyone wanting to enhance the look of their eyebrows. The results are natural looking hair-like strokes, regardless of the amount of the hair you currently have.
People suffering from alopecia, trigonometrical or any other condition that causes hair loss benefit greatly from microblading, as well as people who simply aren’t happy with their eyebrows.
Special considerations for people wanting microblading are:
- Botox injections of the forehead and brow area should be avoided for at least 3 weeks prior to treatment and for 2-3 weeks after.
- Use of brow growth serums should be avoided at least 4-6 weeks prior to the appointment. Growth serum use may cause extensive bleeding and bruising of the brow area during the brow procedure.
